Regional bank acquisition | Card portfolio conversion to Fiserv/First Data

Three card portfolios, five states, one cutover weekend

After a regional bank acquired another multi-state bank, the acquired bank's card programs had to move onto the acquirer's Fiserv/First Data platform. Its retail consumer, small business, and commercial portfolios ran on separate legacy systems with different fraud, rewards, and control setups. The founder served as technical lead on the conversion, which moved every portfolio over a single cutover weekend without interrupting card use at the point of sale.

What the work covered

  • Mapping legacy BINs to the new platform so authorizations kept flowing on day one
  • Coordinating new card, PIN, and EMV chip profiles well ahead of card mailing
  • Rebuilding commercial account hierarchies, spending controls, and MCC blocks on the new platform
  • Stand-in processing during the cutover window so cardholders could keep transacting
480K+Cards converted (consumer and commercial)
350KConsumer accounts
900Commercial clients (27K cards)
